UPDATE: On 04/13/2021, we were notified by the Monterey Coroner’s Office  that the 17 year-old male victim that had been shot in this incident and hospitalized since that date had succumbed to his injuries. The victim has been identified as Adam Diaz Gallegos a resident of Salinas. As a result,one of suspect’s (Manuel Michael Sanchez) charges has now been upgraded from attempted murder to murder.

Incident: Attempted Homicide Investigation Arrest

On 4/7/21 at approximately 10:15 pm Salinas Police Officers responded to the area of Industrial Place and Sanborn Place on reports of a shooting that had just occurred. On arrival they located two male victims suffering from gunshot wounds. One victim, whose identity was initially not known was suffering from a single gunshot and was transported to a local hospital in critical condition. This victim who has now been identified is a 17 year old male, and he remains in critical condition. The second victim, an adult male 22 years of age was suffering from a single gunshot wound. He was transported to a local hospital in stable condition and was treated and released.

During the investigation Salinas Police Officers and Detectives identified Manuel Michael Sanchez (29) as a suspect in this case. Sanchez was arrested and booked into the Monterey County Jail on multiple charges of attempted murder and for being a felon in possession of a firearm.
