Date: Friday, 6/5/2020
Time: 3:47 AM
Location:1300 block of Garner Ave.

On 6-5-2020 at 3:47 am, officers responded to a call of shots fired in an apartment complex located in the 1300 block of Garner Ave. When they arrived, officers determined the shot(s) had been fired from an apartment within the complex. An area check was made, and nobody was injured.

The investigation led officers to an apartment where they contacted the occupants including a seventeen-year-old juvenile who was on probation with search and seizure conditions. A search of the apartment revealed several bullet holes on the wall and eventually officers determined the juvenile had fired a weapon inside the apartment and bullets had traveled through the living room of the apartment, a bedroom and through the adjoining wall into the next-door apartment.

Officers also found out the juvenile suspect left the apartment immediately after the shots were heard and returned prior to police arrival as the firearm was not located. Residents at the apartment included an adult and two children, in addition to the suspect, who was arrested. This case will be forwarded to Child Protective Services.

The juvenile was lodged in juvenile hall and is facing charges of Discharging a Firearm into an Inhabited Dwelling, Negligent Discharge of a Firearm and Child Endangerment. Case will be referred to Juvenile Probation for prosecution.
